Pumpkin Smash 2025 a Hit!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Pumpkin Smash this past Saturday! The event was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without the amazing support and enthusiasm of our Villa Park community.
We loved seeing families, friends, and neighbors come together to say goodbye to their Halloween pumpkins in the most satisfying (and sustainable!) way possible. Instead of heading to the landfill, those old jack-o’-lanterns were turned into compost—helping create nutrient-rich soil and reducing harmful methane emissions.
With around 60 cars participating in the drop-off and smashing fun, we’re thrilled to share that together we diverted 1.81 tons of pumpkin waste from the landfill. That’s a big win for the planet and a great example of how small community actions can make a lasting impact.

Beyond the composting, the event was a wonderful reminder of what makes Villa Park special—neighbors connecting, kids laughing, and everyone pitching in for a greener, cleaner village.
A huge thank-you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and helped spread the word. Your efforts truly made this event a smashing success!
Be sure to check out all the photos on our Facebook page and relive the fun. And stay tuned for more great community events to come.
